Short overview: After 83 specatular races, plus all the paracanoe competitive events ,ECA Canoe Sprint European Championships ended yesterday with the 5000 meters races with max Hoff (GER) winning the Gold in K1 Men, beating the Portuguese Fernando Pimenta in the last 250 meters in one of the most exciting races of the weekend. In C1 , Sebastian BRENDEL (GER) took the gold, after giving no changes to all the other paddlers, making a confortable win- In K1 Women, the Hungarian Renáta CSAY was the winner agains the British Louisa SAWERS and the spanish Eva BARRIOS. In the other events, a special note to Rene Polsen with two gold medals (1000m and 500 meters) and one bronze medal in 5000 meters. Also Dalma Benedek (SRB) claimed the European title both in 1000 and 500 meters, beating canoeing big names as Danuta Kozác (HUN) and Katrin Augustin-Wagner (GER). For the 200 meters events, no suprises in Mens K2, with the Russians Postrigay and Dyachenko taking the gold. In K1 Men, Petter Öström (SWE ) became the new European Champion, followed by the new star in 200 meters, Marko Dragosavljevic (SRB) that took the silver. Marta WALCZYKIEWICZ ( POL) was the winner in the ladies 200 meters K1, beating the Spanish Teresa Portela and the legend Natasa Janic from Hungary. In C1, Jevgenij SHUKLIN from Lithuania took the gold over Azerbaijan and Russia.
